Michael J Fox - The Incurable Optimist
Lately Michael J Fox has been all over the media. He has a new book coming out called, “Always Looking Up”.
I watched him on a few different shows this week. I must admit, I had such a crush on him when I was young. And now, I think he is such an inspiration to so many people.
He has been struggling with Parkinson’s Disease for 18 years. The disease hasn’t stopped him or brought him down. His life is full of love, laughter, friends, and family.
I was very impressed by his attitude. Some of his views on life were very deep and reflective.
- For everything that Parkinson’s took from his life, it gave him so much more.
- He is the luckiest man in the world — he has a beautiful wife and wonderful children.
- If he wouldn’t have gotten sick, he doesn’t think that he would have the same views on family and life as he does now.
- He says there is nothing more important than what his children have to tell or show him. He will always get up to follow them.
- He had to give up film and TV acting, but Parkinson’s took him in a new direction. He became an activist, an author, and he gets to travel.
I think that you and I could learn many lessons from Michael J Fox. He lives his life “in the moment”, appreciating each moment he shares with his family. He is filled with gratitude and love.
You never know where life will lead you. It is only your job to go with the flow. You need to pick yourself up, brush yourself off, and continue on this journey called life.
